Description
I love being out in nature and paint. This painting was done on location at the Hoover Reservoir, after a long time of working only in the studio, and I truly enjoyed every aspect of the plein air experience.
The vibrant colors are rendered with layers of acrylic paint over a colorful paper collage.
The Hoover Reservoir Park (area) offers over 4,700 acres of peaceful and serene landscape just North of Columbus, OH. The park and lake provide guests with a range of recreational activities from picnicking, hiking, boating and fishing. For the bird watching enthusiasts, the park offers a wide variety of bird including frequent sightings of the American Bald Eagle. The reservoir is an important feature for tourism, but also for the water it provides to the city of Columbus. Construction of the Hoover Dam began during 1953 due to the increased water demand of post-war Columbus. The project was completed and dedicated in 1955 and the dam officially opened in 1958. It was named for two brothers, Charles P. Hoover and Clarence B. Hoover, to honor their careers with the City of Columbus Waterworks.
