Description

I grew up in Italy, and last year, when I visited my parents, who have been living in the same home for about 50 years, I saw this sunset from their balcony.
I was mesmerized and overwhelmed by great feelings, but thankfully sharp enough to take a reference photo.
This painting is about the amazing feeling that going back to a welcoming and warm place gives us, the joy of appreciating what, sometimes, we take for granted. The pleasure in finding the things we are familiar with and love.
While the sky is truthful to what I saw, the landscape is fruit of my imagination, embellished and elaborated, as our mind often does with the things we truly love.
